Our Inspiration

Our source of inspiration comes from our territory, a unique place that combines untamed nature and exceptional terroirs (soils) and the founding values of a long lineage of winemakers.

Wild nature

Our estate is located near the Nature Reserve of the Middle Loire, where more than 200 animal species and 600 plant species coexist in a unique ecosystem offering us landscapes of great beauty.

Grateful for our opportunity to be part of a rare environment, we are committed to sharing its wild beauty with our visitors in search of nature, and to be able to preserve it intact to future generations.

Exceptional terroirs

Founded in 1686 by the Landrat-Guyollot family, our estate has inherited unique parcels acquired over the years: include limestone, marl, clay sand and silex clay, it is a mosaic of soils and subsoils of unparalleled richness that awaits us, to create wines with both infinite and unique nuances!

This precious heritage nourishes our eco-sensitivity: we are the guardians of our terroirs for future generations. Also, everything we do with LOVE, ATTENTION AND INQUISITIVENESS

Our family roots

The foundational values of our estate

Each member of our family has made their own contribution to the unique style of our Artisan-Winemakers label, with the imprint of strong values and convictions that are reflected daily in each of our actions, from the vine to the cellar to the sincere and authentic relationships that are the hallmark of the estate.

These family values are a real source of inspiration to create and drive new projects for the estate, and to boost a daily dynamic that gives meaning to the work of the women and men in the estate!

Marguerite Chatelain-Landrat

Married to Raymond, during her husband’s 5 years as a prisoner of war during World War II, she handled, with perseverance and resilience, the many challenges to maintain the vineyard amid shortages. In perfect harmony with the plant world, she knew how to listen to it and understand it.

She had an affinity for others and the gift of giving everyone a simple, authentic and warm welcome.

Raymond Landrat

Originally from a family of farmers in the nearby village of Saint-Laurent-l’Abbaye, he knew every kind of soil under his fingers. Convinced that it is in the vineyard where wine is made, he set meticulous requirements for his work as a winemaker with his love for work done to a high standard. He preserved ancient techniques and ancestral practices to pamper his vines so they would give him beautiful fruit.

Sylvaine Landrat-Guyollot

Daughter of Marguerite and Raymond, she was immersed in the universe of the vine and wine from a very young age.

With the commercialisation of wine sales direct at the winery, beginning in the 1960s, she was in charge of welcoming customers, administration and accounts management. An excellent cook, she conveys the “Art of French Living” and the art of hostessing. Cultivating a taste for beauty, she contributes to the protection of historic architecture.

René Guyollot

He had wanted to teach German, but learned the profession of winemaker in the vines, with his father-in-law and his employee. Enterprising and visionary, with great intellectual curiosity, the estate acquired new plots of vines and land for construction, in anticipation of expansion, under his leadership. With the return of Sophie to Pouilly and the entry into new export markets, he improved the production processes by building new cellars offering ideal sanitary conditions and efficiency…

Sophie Landrat-Guyollot

Daughter of Sylvaine and René and granddaughter of Marguerite and Raymond, after university studies in business and foreign languages, and a period in the fashion world in England, Sophie “took up the torch” in 1992.

From early childhood, she took pleasure in feeling everything, memorizing everything, imagining everything perfectly executed … a natural propensity that has never left her!

Later, training in viticulture & oenology, in Beaune and Dijon, confirmed her commitment to the exciting world of Vine and Wine.

This return to her roots gave her the opportunity to promote more responsible practices in vineyard management and sustainability, and to exercise her creativity and detail orientation to craft precise and elegant wines.
